Yep- we’ve been sampling the goods.
We figured that all of our hard work, planting those peppers and tomatoes this weekend, were deserving of the first fruits of the lettuce mix.
We had us a ballin little lunch.
In the mix, were those beauty red radishes, and our new, sweet, Hakurei turnips.
But you better hurry- on the turnips-
My man can’t keep his hands off those suckers.
He’s like “one for them, two for me…”
They add so much crunch to the salad greens, but hold their own, just as a simple, and delightfully- sweet snack.
$4 lb on Turnips
And the beets-
Beets are one of my favorites.
I’m patiently waiting.
I just went back to last years photos and dates, and they are right on track.
I’m the impatient one.
And the funny thing is- I used to think I hated beets.
It just goes to show how we shouldn’t knock something before we try it.
I made a face at Dust for years when he talked about liking beets and now we can’t keep them in the pantry.
I especially like them with my scrambled eggs and hot sauce.
Weird, but delish.
So, don’t drop the beet on the beets!
They should be ready in the next week or so.
$4 lb fresh beets or $8 canned pints
